Hey - It's Another Circus!

The Circus will be in town from June 9th to June 19th.

It's the CIRCUS UNIVERSAL RENZ  and their  web site looks pretty good. It's certainly bigger than the one we saw before:  there's an elephant and a tiger and the ever present camels (what's with camels at circuses?)  They have their tents set up near the train station downtown.

If you're interested, just say "Circus!"

It's Harry - Again!

Wow.  The last one.

The final chapter.

It's going to be here when you are here!

Do you want to see it ?  I certainly do!

Football - or Soccer to You

Did you know there's a World Cup being played in Germany this summer?  Yes, there is - the FIFA Women's Championship.  Wow.

The group games will be played while you're here and I read that the US team is really, really good.  We play on June 28 against South Korea, July 2 agains Columbia, and July 6 against Sweden.

Maybe you should pack your Vuvuzelas!!

Here's the link  if you want to read more about the Women's Team.

Witches and Devils and Kings and Castles

There's no Paris on this trip to Germany, no visit to Mittenwald, but who wants to stay in Bremen the whole time?  Not me!

So bring your hiking shoes and a backpack!  We are going to the Harz Mountains, famous for witches and devils among other things.  He's a devil because he's only got four toes; she's a witch because of her nose.  You can tell people rub it for good luck, like they do the donkey in Bremen.

We'll stay in Quedlinburg where there's a castle and lots of medieval buildings.

And they have their own Roland!  It's not as elegant as ours, but it's fun to look at anyway.

So why the hiking shoes?  Because the Harz has the highest mountain in North Germany!  We're going to the top!

Food

What is this thing?

                a)  An ancient washing machine.

                b)  a paper cutter

                c)  a food machine

Well, it's a food machine!!  Well, almost.  It's a pasta machine.  We have one.  We are going make pasta while you're here.  We can make spaghetti or ravioli.   And we can make pesto.  There's basil growing on the terrace and I think it has your names on it!

Elections

Not electing people here, but electing things to do.

We're trying to plan and need some input.  What do you want to do again?  What's been done enough?  Look over the list and let us know which gets a thumbs up and which gets a thumbs down.

  1. Universum
  2. Überseemuseum
  3. Visit the Affinghausen cousins
  4. Visit Amina
  5. Visit Peggy, Wolfgang and Felina (Julika will not be here - she has to go to a treatment center for her back)
  6. The Ropes Course
  7. The Watt

You don't have to vote on the market, bike riding, picnics visiting Bremen or kite flying.  We'll do that!!

Here we go again ...

Welcome to year 5, or the preview to year 5.  Werner's getting the bikes cleaned and greased, I'm making sure the beds are ready, and the covers too --- still cool here.

But we are looking forward so much to this summer!  More posts to follow soon.
